I agree on #3, kid. I hope someone stops the bastards this year.

Jamey Newberg covered the Rangers awards dinner and fan fest:
Memorable moments aside, the significance of the weekend was, like it is every year, its place on the calendar and its clarion call to the baseball fan to get geared up. Michael Young nailed it:
“When you get to this point with FanFest and the banquet, that’s when it starts to hit. It’s baseball season. It’s about time to get ready… . This is a great time to be a Ranger. I see great times ahead for the organization. As players, we feel this organization is set up to be good this year and it’s set up to be good for the future. This organization is ready to take off and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Play ball.

The Texas Longhorns earned commitments Friday from two of the nation’s top high-school-football recruits. Welcome aboard.
ESPN covered the story. Also per the Statesman:
“It’s where I felt most comfortable,” said [Plano West defensive end Jackson] Jeffcoat, who chose Texas over Oklahoma, Southern California, Arizona State and Houston.
“It’s where I felt the most comfortable,” said [Lakota West, Ohio, linebacker] Hicks, who chose Texas over Florida and Ohio State.
Texas is a comfortable place. And that counts. Cool.
Defensive Coordinator Will Muschamp likes this home, too:
It’s obvious Muschamp already has earned Hicks’ trust.
“I have a great relationship with him,” Hicks told The Pulse-Journal, a weekly newspaper in Ohio. “Every time his name came up (for other jobs), he reassured me he’s not going anywhere. He backed it up.
“It shows his loyalty to Texas. That’s key. I trust Muschamp will lead me and teach me what I don’t know about the game.”
Loyalty. Trust. Leadership. Teaching. Yep, Texas is a good place. Hook ‘em.
